You think you’re paying just $1, but nowhere does it mention you’ll be signed up for a subscription. Next thing you know, there’s an unexpected charge, and when you try to cancel, their system suddenly has an "error." From that point, you just get passed around with no help. After a while, when you finally get to speak to someone, the 7 days have passed, and they’ve got you stuck. I talked to a customer service agent who told me I didn’t understand how to count the days and then hung up on me. When I tried calling back, nobody answered, and it said the person you’re trying to reach isn’t available before disconnecting you. Seriously, stay away from this service or website!

This company is a total scam! I signed up by mistake after misreading the name. I canceled my policy the same day it started because I no longer needed it and thought I was getting something else. I paid 6 dollars for a report I never received! I wasted 20 minutes trying to cancel the policy with a rep on chat, like it says to do, but they just “created a ticket and said they’d get back to me.” Two weeks later, I still haven’t heard anything. So I tried calling them, pressed the option to cancel, and got hung up on three times. I thought it was done, but then today I was charged 30 dollars. I called again, and the rep told me, “No matter how many times you try to cancel, I will just keep reactivating your policy and charging you.” I ended up changing all my bank details because that was easier than dealing with them. These guys are awful and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

They trick you by offering a car history report for only $1, but what they don’t say is that they will start charging you $30 after 7 days, and keep billing every 15 or 30 days like some secret subscription you never clearly accepted. The worst thing? Their “customer service” is useless: The chat does nothing. The emails just send you cancellation links that don’t work. No matter how many times you try, there’s NO REAL WAY TO STOP IT. This is a sneaky trap, and somehow they’re still running ads on Google, which makes more people fall for it. If you’ve been caught too, or want to help stop this scam, report them to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Please don’t ignore this. The more people who report them, the faster this scam can be shut down. Share this with everyone!

I purchased a $1 vin history report, and was charged $29.95 for a subscription for these reports a week later. There is nothing saying that you are signing up for a 7 day trial, because no one would buy it. Their website is deceptive. I used paypal to pay for this. I contacted the company, because the website says hassle free cancelations. After 1 phonecall, 3 emails, snd 1 chat, I was told that my subscription was canceled and my refund was processed, but got no refund. Paypal denied my dispute as well, so they stole my money, and as far as I'm concerned, paypal let them do it. I haven't been charged again, and I unlined my paypal from that company.

SCAM... The 'Free' report starts out costing $1, with VERY little information. You're expected to pay more for each area of a regular CarFax type report. The next month you're charged $29.95 for additional reports as a monthly 'subscription' !!! When finally contacted, they say that you automatically have a subscription if you spent a dollar for the BS, no info report. It doesn't matter that you didn't buy a subscription, they refuse to refund the stolen money.! To avoid future charges by this Fraudulent company, I've had to cancel my credit card and have a new one issued. DO NOT let this outfit get your Credit card number.

I purchased a one time vin verification for $1.00 and tried to cancel immediately after so I didn't have any reoccurring charges, but they made it very difficult for me, they have given me the run around for over 3 weeks now, they charged my card $29.95 without my ok to do so. I have been waiting for a refund, I have chatted EVERYDAY , waited for emails, and waited for my refund only to get NOWHERE! They are NOT trying to help you at all. All they do is lie to you every time you contact them. If you ever get a response from them at all. Complete scam and they are liars! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH VINHISTORYUSA!!!!

Scam artist!!!!

I, too, was charged $29.95 plus two $1.00 fees for a report which turned up NOTHING. When I mentioned this through their chat line they said they would refund me but nothing has happened even though I chatted a total of 5 times with them. Then I checked my card statement and found that they again tried to charge me $29.95. I reported this as fraud and will get a new card. They promised me a refund but all I received were promises. One star is too much for them. Please beware of this fraudulent company!

This site is a total ripoff. I paid $1 for a VIN report that was wrong (said the car was a 5-speed manual, but it’s actually a 6-speed automatic). I ended the trial the same day after seeing the info was fake. Now, they tried to charge me $29.95 today. Luckily, my bank caught it and stopped the payment since they don’t fix anything. The phone number on the site says it can’t take calls, and I spent 25 minutes typing my problem in the chat with no response at all. Complete scam.

Got tricked into a sneaky monthly plan. The site makes it look like you just pay $1 for a simple VIN check, but it’s really a trap for a 7-day trial that turns into a charge later. I had no clue I’d agreed to a sub until it hit my card. Total scammars, and the VIN report gives almost no real info. Should have checked Trustpilot first like always — would’ve saved myself the trouble seeing that awful rating.

I just tried to cancel my subscription through the way they give on the site (the chat on the right side, below) and it sends me to a link, when I click cancel it tells me, "we are sorry, we cannot cancel your subscription, please contact we". What have I been doing until now, if not contact them so they can cancel me? Scammers!!!

Useless vehicle report

I used VINHISTORYUSA to check on a vehicle I was interested to purchase. The "free" option ended up costing $1 to get an inferior vehicle report. Agreeing to the dollar charge signs you up for a membership at $29.95. This info was not displayed to my recollection and charge shows up a week later. This business is set solely to scam consumers in my opinion.

Jack Kenny replied but ignored my email and just explained how to cancel again. I stopped recurring payments on PayPal and will inform my bank and PayPal about this. Total scam!

My take on this company is pretty straightforward. They promise one thing, like a $1 fee for a report, but then hit you with a much higher charge, like $29.95. It doesn't matter how many times you cancel, if you're not careful and don't get a new credit or debit card, they will keep charging you. They are scammers. They’re not genuine. Consider this a warning. Stay far from this company. They are dishonest.

VinHistoryUSA says the report is free. But they charge $1 just to see it... then $1 more to save it... and $4 to get important details in the report. The report I received wasn’t very useful, so I doubt it’s correct. I dodged the $30 monthly cost by canceling right away. This service is bad. I won’t use them again.

I purchased a history for one car but then saw a charge of 29.95 for a monthly plan every month until I realized after 3 months. I called to stop it and got an email saying it was canceled. Then a few days later they charged me 29.95 again. Total scam. And the report is not even close to a carfax report.

Can I give it 0!? All the other reviews are right. You think it’s ok, then they hit you with $29 for a really bad service. No refund and paypal does nothing, they just support these scams now. I left paypal after 20+ years because of this and Hondapartsnow fake returns.

This is a total rip-off. I canceled my subscription months ago, but they still took $29 from me without asking, and then they refused to give it back. They did it again today, and now my bank has frozen my account because of fraud warnings. Stay away from this site!

Just like everyone else mentioned, you can’t cancel your subscription easily and they keep giving you the runaround. I tried all their options and nothing helped. Hopefully, stopping the recurring payment through PayPal will do the trick. I’ll see in a month..

They say Vin check costs $1, then after some days they bill $29.95. If you try to fight the charge with your CC, since you typed your CC info on their site, the bank may not always agree that something is wrong.

Don't use them. They will take charge $1 then a week later $29.95 a month. They willl take charge change the name as well so it’s difficult to block the payment with the bank. They need stopped!
